NJAWBO FAQ’s
We welcome all interested parties to inquire about our organization and the benefits of membership. Here are just a few of the questions most often asked.
Q. How do I know which NJAWBO chapter to join?
A. You actually join at the state level and choose whichever county/chapter you like to claim as your “home” chapter. This decision is entirely up to you.
Q. Can I visit the other chapters?
A. Yes! There is no restriction. You are a member of the whole state and are welcome to attend meetings of all chapters.
Q. How many times can I visit a chapter without joining?
A. We ask that you submit your application and payment at the 3rd visit.
Q. Can I deliver a presentation without having to join?
A. No - except for special events, meeting presentations are a member-only benefit. However, as a member, you can submit a request to deliver an educational presentation at any chapter.
Q. Do you have to be a woman to join?
A. No, NJAWBO welcomes men as Associate Members; the only difference in types of membership is that Associates cannot vote in state NJAWBO elections.
Q. Do I have to own my own business to join? A. No, there are Associate memberships for those people whose corporations are paying for the membership.
Q. Do I need to register to attend a meeting?
A. It depends on the chapter and event. Morris monthly meetings do not require registering in advance. Special events will have a separate registration process.
Q. Can I bring my sales materials and products to display at a meeting?
A. There are levels of sponsorship which include the ability to pay for a display table of your products or materials. However, you are always welcome to bring your business cards to any meeting.
Q. How can I advertise my business as a member?
A. There are several opportunities - through our chapter website, through our meeting booklet, and through our sponsorship programs. Please see any board member for more information.
Q. Can I expect to provide, and be given referrals and leads at the networking events?
A. Referrals may come as a natural benefit of developing a relationship with fellow members, but this is not a “leads” driven organization. NJAWBO provides our members with more support than simply exchanging leads. We specialize in empowering, engaging and energizing women owned businesses.
